In today's context the Indian government is well advised to "Stand-down" on Kashmir. Frenzy along the Loc (Line of Control) is not in the interests of a unified war on terrorism. Even aggressive statements from the government of India against Pakistan would be jarring for the united front to fight terrorism.

From India's point of view, this would lead to national unity in Pakistan and unite the Pakistanis in anti-Indian frenzy. The fissures that we see today between the military government and the mobs on the street will melt and all of them will find a ready common enemy in India.

For this reason, at least, the Indian government should ease off on Kashmir and not carry the war on terrorism in Kashmir across the LoC while also not shooting their mouths off in threatening Musharraf who is already besieged by the unruly mobs. Any indiscreet action or talk by India is going to divert the heat of these mobs from Musharraf to their common enemy - India.
